What is the ruling on my pursuing postgraduate studies if that conflicts with prayer times and necessitates my staying outside the home until late without a mahram, along with my fear that my future husband will compel me to work, and my belonging to the Dawoodi Bohra community which does not favor a religious girl?

Shedding the shackles of division and returning to the purity of Islam is a great blessing, for Allah Almighty says: (Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you are not [associated] with them in anything). One must reflect deeply and distance themselves from societal influences by reading the Holy Quran, for it is a book of guidance and light. Allah Almighty says: (Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him [any] allies). Obedience to Allah and His Messenger is the path to guidance, as stated in His saying: (Say, "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger."). A husband does not have the right to force his wife to work, and he has no say in her wealth. It is the woman's right to stipulate what suits her in marriage, and to choose a righteous husband who will help her preserve her religion. Leaving the house does not require a mahram, rather it is travel that requires one, along with adhering to hijab, decorum, and safety.
