Can a person be dutiful to his mother who differentiates between her children, speaks ill of them, and sometimes curses them for no reason? And how can one deal with the feeling of hatred towards her and her sense of psychological power? And are the prayers and supplications of the children accepted under these circumstances?

Any shortcoming in honoring and being dutiful to one's mother is not justified, for her right is immense. One must seek Allah's help and strive to honor her, pray for her, and not succumb to feelings of hatred. Beware of mistreating her.

If you adhere to Allah's boundaries in your dealings with her, then her prayers (against you) or her displeasure will not harm you, and your dutifulness to her is within the limits of your capacity.

The thought of abandoning prayer and supplication out of fear of them not being accepted or answered is a satanic whisper. Prayer and supplication are among the greatest acts of worship. Prayer is valid as long as it is performed according to its conditions, and supplication is answered unless one is hasty and impatient for the response.

Suicide is one of the gravest sins, and no believer would commit it.
