How can I retrieve a copy of the Quran that I gifted to a non-Muslim friend, which contains Arabic text, without my request being misunderstood or alienating her?

It is not permissible to give a disbeliever a translation of the meanings of the Noble Quran that contains its text. You must retrieve this translation if you can, without informing her of the reason. Informing her that "none shall touch it save the purified" does not alienate her from Islam.
