Diminishing names that involve the servitude to Allah Almighty, such as “’Abbud” for ‘Abdullah, and “Duhayyim” for ‘Abdur-Rahman, is permissible because the intention is to diminish the person named, not to diminish the name of Allah. Nevertheless, it is preferable to pronounce the full name.
