Is it incumbent upon me to search for the woman whom I unintentionally wronged and who made a supplication against me, so that I may apologize to her in person? And will this act bring peace to my heart and relieve me of pangs of conscience and the feeling of being pursued due to her supplication, after I have repented to Allah and supplicated for her well-being?

Lying is not permissible except in specific situations, such as a lie between spouses, in war, to reconcile people, and to avert a predominant harm, with a preference for equivocation if possible, while generally being cautious of lying. Lying that involves harming others is forbidden. Lying to escape predicaments, if it causes harm to others, is wrong, and one must seek out the harmed person and ask for forgiveness, or pray for them and seek Allah's forgiveness for them. As for lying that is not permissible, it is a grave error, and the obligation was to be truthful, for truthfulness is salvation. The questioner must offer sincere repentance, which includes regret, abstaining from the sin, and resolving not to return to it, as well as restoring rights to their owners or seeking their forgiveness. If she cannot reach the woman, she should supplicate for her and seek Allah's forgiveness for her with a sincere intention. It is advisable to adhere to truthfulness in the future.
