What is the ruling on a father refusing to accept what is offered to him by his son, and the son taking what he offered despite the father's refusal? And what is the ruling on the son feeling uneasy about what he did? And is it permissible for the son to reply to his father when he abuses his mother? And how should the son deal with a father who refuses to help him with a difficult matter? And does the father's rejection of the son's offer make him emboldened towards him?
Your keenness to honor your father and seek his satisfaction is a source of strength and dignity for you, and a means of drawing closer to Allah. His right is immense, for Allah has enjoined treating parents with respect, gentleness, reverence, and humility, especially in their old age, as stated in the Almighty's words: "So do not say to them [anything that indicates] displeasure and do not reprimand them but speak to them a noble word." It is obligatory to treat them with kindness and obey them in what is good, even if they treat you badly or wrong you, for their right does not cease. As reported from Ibn Abbas: "There is no Muslim who has two Muslim parents, and he wakes up to them seeking Allah's reward, but Allah will open for him two doors - meaning, of Paradise - and if he displeases one of them, Allah will not be pleased with him until the parent is pleased with him." It was asked: "Even if they wronged him?" He replied: "Even if they wronged him." It is permissible to advise them and enjoin them to good and forbid them from evil with gentleness and respect, without violence or abuse. Righteousness towards parents is one of the greatest reasons for Allah's pleasure and entry into Paradise, for "The Lord's pleasure is in the parent's pleasure, and the Lord's displeasure is in the parent's displeasure."
