Is money earned from selling video games that contain music unlawful, and what should be done with this money after it has been spent, and what is the ruling on things purchased with it?

It is not permissible to sell items that include music or other prohibited elements, as this constitutes aiding in sin. It is also unlawful to accept money for their sale. This money must be disposed of for the benefit of Muslims or given in charity, except for a poor person who may take from it according to their need. As for the monies that have already been spent, some scholars are of the opinion that you are not accountable for them, while others believe it is obligatory to give their equivalent in charity. The items purchased with these monies are yours, and there is a similar difference of opinion regarding paying their value to the poor. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that repentance obliterates what came before it, and that obligating a repentant person to make up for everything they neglected or to return all the money they acquired might deter them from repentance.
