Does the frequent performance of prostration of thankfulness contradict the Sunnah, given that the reason for such prostration recurs often, such as safety from daily accidents?

The prostration of gratitude (sujud (definition) al-shukr) is legislated upon the renewal of a manifest blessing or the repulsion of a manifest affliction. If this occurs repeatedly during the day, there is no objection to repeating the prostration. Its condition is that the blessing must be manifest and not continuous or incidental. For instance, being saved from an accident or receiving glad tidings of a newborn necessitates prostration, whereas arriving at work safely does not. This is based on Al-Bahuti's statement: "The prostration of gratitude is recommended upon the renewal of a manifest blessing, or the repulsion of a manifest affliction, whether general for him and for people, or in a matter specific to him, such as the birth of a child, or new wealth, or status, or victory over an enemy." If the blessing is not manifest, then one should not prostrate, because the blessings of Allah are innumerable.
