What is the ruling on and impact of divorce in a case where the husband is unable to have intercourse with his wife except with aversion, while the wife desires to remain, and what is the psychological effect of this on the husband?

You should not divorce your wife as long as she is content, religious, of good character, and you have children, unless you fear falling into sin and cannot marry another woman alongside her.

Ibn Qudamah mentioned that divorce is of five types:

1. Obligatory: Such as the divorce of the mu’li (one who swears not to approach his wife) after the waiting period if he refuses to return, and the divorce by the two arbitrators in a dispute if they deem it necessary. 2. Disliked (Makruh): Which is divorce without a need for it. 3. Permissible (Mubah): When there is a need for it due to the wife's bad character or poor companionship. 4. Recommended (Mandub): When the wife neglects her obligatory duties to Allah, or if she is unchaste. 5. Forbidden (Mahzur): Which is divorce during menstruation or during a period of purity in which he had intercourse with her, and this is unanimously prohibited.
