Is it permissible for me to repent to Allah while I am in a state of impurity?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The conditions for repentance (tawbah) when a sin is between an individual and their Lord are: ceasing the sin, regretting having committed it, and resolving not to return to it. If the sin involves the rights of other people, then, in addition to the aforementioned conditions, restitution must be made for any injustices. Scholars have not mentioned that purity is a condition for the validity of repentance, but ablution (wudu') expiates sins, and purity is generally desirable. It is also recommended for the one supplicating (du'a) to be in a state of purity and facing the Qiblah when making supplication.
