Does Satan employ means other than instilling despair in supplication, such as suggesting that something is unsuitable, or that if it happens, such-and-such will occur? What are the means that help one shed tears during supplication? Is it permissible to lower the head very much during supplication as a sign of humility?

Satan is the enemy of man and strives to deter him from good deeds and especially from supplication (Du'a), because it is an act of worship that Allah loves and is displeased with those who abandon it. Hence, Satan may whisper to the Muslim about the slowness of response or the lack of response due to sin. The Muslim must ignore these whispers and continue supplicating with good faith in Allah, while fulfilling the conditions and manners of supplication. Supplication is one of the best means to bring forth tears, and forcing oneself to cry makes it a natural disposition. Other things that help in crying include: sensing the fear of Allah, reflecting on the Quran, knowing the reward for crying, pondering over sins and a bad ending, and listening to admonitions. There is no harm in bowing one's head during supplication as a sign of submission. If the mentioned young man is pleasing in his religion and character, there is no harm in supplicating for marriage to him, as social differences are not a legal impediment. However, if there is fear that they might hinder marital happiness, then there is no harm in turning away from him and supplicating for another righteous husband.
