The pronouncement of three divorces in a single utterance results in three divorces according to the majority of scholars, and this is the relied-upon view for issuing fatwas. However, some scholars are of the opinion that it counts as one divorce. Anger does not prevent the occurrence of divorce unless it causes the person to lose awareness. If a man or woman are unlearned and seek a from a trusted scholar, and he issues a fatwa that it counts as one divorce, and they act upon his fatwa, then there is no blame upon them. The questioner should not move between muftis seeking leniency. One must act according to the rulings of Islamic law, not man-made laws.
