A woman is permitted to go out into her home's courtyard without her husband's permission, as long as she is safe from the sight of non-mahram men. However, if the courtyard is exposed to neighbors, he has the right to prevent her. A woman is allowed to uncover her eyes for the purpose of seeing, but it is preferable to cover them with a light veil. Caution must be exercised to avoid uncovering the eyes in a way that causes fitnah, such as the appearance of eye sockets or the presence of kohl. A husband's jealousy is مطلوب (required/praiseworthy), but it should not lead to hardship. If a heavy covering prevents vision or causes harm, she should abandon it.
