What is the interpretation of feeling that one's demise is near after experiencing severe dizziness during sleep?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Remembering death and learning from it is a religiously مطلوب (mandated) act, and it is part of the guidance of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the practice of the righteous. It brings about fear and mindfulness of Allah, encourages good deeds, deters from sins, and cultivates detachment from worldly life.

However, fear should not reach the point of despair and hopelessness, or distract one from performing good deeds. The true believer combines fear with hope.

Fear of death is of two types: 1. Natural: This type is not blameworthy. 2. Blameworthy: This is the type that leads to love of the world and aversion to death, as mentioned in the hadith of Thawban.

Intense fear may be caused by sins and heedlessness, for sins bring fear and anxiety, while obedience is a fortress of security.

It is recommended to engage in sincere repentance, persist in acts of obedience, maintain prayers, and frequently remember Allah and recite the Quran, for these bring security and tranquility. The righteous believer does not fear death; rather, he anticipates it with joy.
