What is the ruling on zakat for inherited money that has reached the zakat threshold, but has not been distributed among the heirs because none of them can dispose of it individually?

Zakat is obligatory on every heir whose share reaches the nisab (minimum threshold) by itself or by combining with what they already own. This is due after one lunar year has passed since the death of the deceased. The amount of nisab is equivalent to 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver. The obligatory amount to be given is one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%). It is not permissible to place money in interest-based banks except out of necessity, such as in a current account. Interest earnings (usury) must be disposed of by spending them on charitable causes, as it is illicit wealth on which no zakat is due.
