Is it permissible to buy chicken from the market without verifying that it was slaughtered in a halal manner, given that halal chicken is expensive and far from the city?

If you doubt the slaughterer or the method of slaughter, and it is common in the country that they do not slaughter according to the Shariah method, then it is not permissible to buy or sell this chicken.
