How can what Umm Atiyyah said—that yellowness and a brownish discharge after purification are not considered anything—be reconciled with the fatwas that consider yellowness and a brownish discharge during the menstruation period (15 days) as menstruation, even if they appear after seeing the sign of purity? And what should a woman do if she fasts compensatory days and then sees yellowness before the completion of 15 days of menstruation?

Yellowish or brownish discharge is considered menstruation if it occurs during the regular period or is continuous with blood. It is not considered menstruation if it occurs outside the regular period after the cessation of blood, even if it is within 15 days, and fasting is permissible at that time. As for one who was unable to make up missed fasts before the next Ramadan (definition) due to a valid excuse, they should make them up after the subsequent Ramadan, and no expiation (fidyah (definition)) is required of them.
