What is the ruling on praying Dhuhr between the Adhan of Asr and the Iqamah?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is not permissible to delay the prayer beyond its appointed time except for an excuse, such as sleep or forgetfulness. It is permissible to combine Dhuhr with Asr prayers during the time of Asr for certain excuses like illness or travel. Allah Almighty has warned those who delay prayer without an excuse, as He says: {So woe to those who pray [But] who are heedless of their prayer} [Al-Ma'un: 4-5]. Scholars have interpreted this to mean those who delay the prayer beyond its appointed time. A Muslim must perform the prayer at its proper time and with the congregation. If he misses it, whether due to an excuse or not, he must make it up immediately upon remembering it, even if that is between the Adhan and Iqamah of the subsequent prayer.
