What is the meaning of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "And all good is in Your hands, and evil is not attributed to You," while Allah is the Creator of all things?

A Muslim must firmly believe that Allah is the Creator of all things, and that everything that occurs in the universe is by His decree and destiny. The meaning of "and all good is in Your hands" is that all good originates from Allah, and nothing of it can be attained except by His permission. As for "and evil is not attributed to You," its meaning is that evil is not used to draw closer to Allah, nor is it attributed to Him in isolation, out of reverence. For even if evil is among Allah's creations, it is not directly ascribed to Him. Just as it is not said to Allah, "O Creator of pigs," but rather, "O Creator of beings," out of reverence. This is similar to the saying of Abraham (peace be upon him): {Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me And He [it is who] feeds me and gives me drink} where he attributed creation, feeding, and giving drink to Allah out of glorification, and he said: {And when I am ill, He cures me} where he attributed illness to himself because there is no glorification in it.
