Is it permissible for my wife to perform ghusl and purification and begin performing acts of worship, despite the intermittent discharge of blood after forty days of her postpartum period, knowing that the bleeding had stopped before the forty days were complete and then resumed?

"The wife was required to perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath) and pray when the postpartum bleeding (nifas (definition)) stopped. If the bleeding returned within the forty-day period, it is considered nifas blood, and she is not permitted to pray or fast. As for blood that returns after the forty-day period, it is not nifas blood. If it coincides with her regular menstrual cycle, then it is menstruation (hayd). Otherwise, it is irregular bleeding (istihadah (definition)), for which she must perform ablution (wudu) for each prayer after its time enters, cleanse the affected area, and protect herself by binding a cloth. She must make up the prayers she missed during the days of purity that interspersed the forty-day period."
