Is the son's failure to complete the marriage with the girl chosen by his mother for him, due to her engagement to another person, considered disobedience or negligence on the part of the son, and does this affect his mother's satisfaction?

We ask Allah to grant you protection and forgiveness, and we advise you to continue honoring your mother, for that is one of the greatest acts of proximity to Allah. You are not legally obligated to agree to marry the woman your mother desires, for marriage is a long journey that requires careful consideration, and obedience to parents is only in what is good and permissible. If you find a righteous woman upon whom both you and your mother agree, that would be better for harmony and marital happiness.
