What is the ruling on one who loves secular states and rejoices at their victory, wishing for their continuation—even if they face a Muslim state—while affirming that Islam is the truth and is suitable for every time and place, but fears their demise and the loss of his freedom and enjoyment? Does he become a disbeliever by that? And what is the remedy?

If a person does not consider sin permissible and does not allow ruling by other than what Allah has revealed, then his mere love for countries that contain desires that align with his whims is not considered disbelief. However, he is in danger of losing his faith, and he must repent and strive against his lower self to love faith and obedience and to detest sins. What aids him in this is strengthening his love for Allah, contemplating the evil consequences of sins, pondering the wisdom of the Lawgiver in prohibiting them, and earnestly supplicating that Allah make faith beloved to him and make disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to him.
