Does the one who sits with those who disbelieve in the verses of Allah and mock them become like them in sin or disbelief, to the extent that he leaves the fold of Islam, based on what is stated in verse 140 of Surah An-Nisa, and what happened when I sat in front of the television and felt deficient in my disapproval?

Merely sitting in gatherings of disbelief and mockery of Allah's verses, as stated in Surat An-Nisa (4:140), does not expel a servant from the fold of Islam unless they are pleased with and affirm what is being said. The resemblance mentioned in the verse refers to participating in the sin, not in disbelief or its degree.

The similarity in the verse is a form of severity and warning, where you become like them in disobeying Allah by sitting there despite hearing disbelief. The questioner's hatred of the evil and his rejection of it in his heart, and his request to change the channel, indicates his disapproval, so this action does not expel him from the fold of Islam.

Nevertheless, a believer must avoid everything that angers Allah from forbidden acts, and it is not permissible to follow TV series that contain শরعي (Sharia) violations. The questioner must be a shepherd to his household, protecting them from all evil and guiding them to good, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire" and the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock."
