What is the ruling on cursing inanimate objects, such as when a person says to their pen, "May Allah curse you"? And is women's naming of some household utensils as "the cursed ones" considered a form of cursing?

A Muslim is generally prohibited from excessive cursing, especially cursing animals or inanimate objects that do not deserve to be cursed. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade cursing a she-camel and the wind, and said: "Whoever curses something that does not deserve it, the curse returns upon him." Naming utensils "malāʿīn" (cursed things) is forbidden because it implies cursing inanimate objects, and this may lead to the curse returning upon the one who utters it.
