What is the ruling on a girl marrying a man whose money and earnings come from unlawful sources—fraud and antiquities trafficking—given her parents’ refusal, and her insistence on marrying him under the pretext that he will repent and that Allah may reform him through her, and is it obligatory for him to dispose of the unlawful money?

A woman is not permitted to marry someone who provides for her from ill-gotten gains. If a man possesses only unlawful wealth, then it is not permissible to accept marriage from him. However, if the man repents sincerely and rids himself of the unlawful wealth, then there is no objection to marrying him. It is then permissible for him to take from it, like other needy individuals, what he requires, if he owns nothing else.
