What is the ruling on a woman who missed days in Ramadan due to traveling and accompanying her sick father, then her father passed away, and she was unable to make up the missed days before the next Ramadan arrived, and what should she do when the third Ramadan is about to begin and she has only made up two days?

If the questioner intends to stay in Medina for four days or more upon arrival, then breaking the fast is incorrect because the ruling of travel ceases, unless it is for the necessity of saving a life or an unusual hardship. However, if she does not intend to stay, then breaking the fast is correct because she is still under the ruling of travel.

Breaking the fast in Ramadan is permissible for reasons such as travel, illness, unusual hardship, saving a life, fear for the fetus or infant, old age, menstruation, and postpartum bleeding.

As for what must be done now after missing the make-up fast before the next Ramadan, it is repentance to Allah Almighty along with making up the fast and offering expiation (expiation for delaying the make-up of Ramadan until the next Ramadan). This expiation is one for each day and is not repeated by delaying it for more than a year.

Note: If a fasting person travels after Fajr, some scholars do not permit him to break the fast on the day he traveled.
