Is expiation incumbent upon a husband who swore by divorce that his wife would not go to her family, and then retracted that?

A Muslim must avoid using divorce in family disputes due to its severe consequences. Being lenient with it is a manipulation of Allah's Book. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, became angry with those who pronounced three divorces at once. Whoever uses divorce to encourage or prevent has violated the Prophet's directive to swear by Allah or remain silent. If divorce is used as a form of oath, its occurrence depends on the husband's intention. If he intended divorce, it occurs. If he did not intend divorce but only intended to prevent something, then its ruling is that of an oath, and an expiation for an oath is due.
