Why is a person held accountable for their arrogance in religion, even though God is the Creator of the intellect and the Creator of arrogance? And why did God not cleanse the hearts of all people so they would become believers, just as He cleansed the heart of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him?

God's creation of the servants' actions does not negate their will and choice. They are held accountable for their actions by virtue of this will and choice. As for God's wisdom in favoring some of His creation over others, one must submit to the perfection of God's knowledge, power, and wisdom. Comprehending the secrets of His decree and destiny is impossible for limited human minds. Divine decree (Al-Qadar) is a secret among God's secrets, and it is not permissible to delve deeply into it. Imam Al-Tahawi said: "The essence of divine decree is a secret of Allah Almighty in His creation, upon which no close angel nor sent prophet has been informed. Delving deeply and contemplating it is a means to failure, a ladder to deprivation, and a path to transgression."
