Is placing another Qur'an in the mosque sufficient atonement for the unintentional error of putting ink remover on a small part of a word in a Qur'an in the mosque?

He did well by removing the line from the Mushaf, then bringing a replacement Mushaf and placing it in the mosque. The scholars have stated that whoever damages something belonging to another without right must guarantee it by returning its equivalent if it is something that can be measured or weighed (mithli), or its value if it is something that is valued (muqawwam). A child is responsible for what he damages, and intentional and accidental acts are the same when it comes to people's property, so legal responsibility (taklif) is not a condition for liability. Although what the questioner did is not considered damage requiring compensation, his action is more scrupulous and cautious.
