What is the ruling on a waqf (endowed) Mushaf if it becomes damaged or torn? Is it obligatory to restore it, provide a replacement for it, or leave it as it is? Is it permissible to destroy it?

If an endowed Qur'an copy (Mus'haf mawqoof) is damaged, it should be repaired and rebound if possible. Otherwise, funds from the mosque's revenue or from the public treasury should be spent on it. The directorates of endowments (Awqaf) shall take charge of this if the mosque has no revenue. If it becomes impossible to benefit from it, then it is permissible to destroy it by burying it in a pure place or by burning it. The latter is preferable because it is authentically established from the Companions. It is also permissible to destroy it using a paper shredder, provided that the letters are completely obliterated. It is not obligatory to replace the damaged Qur'an copy.
