Is a father entitled to view his son's private writings and spy on him, citing his ownership of his son and his right to absolute obedience, including compelling him to choose a specific university major, and does this conform to what is stated in the Islamic religion?

The father has a right to obedience from his children in what is good, and to their dutifulness and kindness towards him, even if the father wrongs them or falls short. He is not like other relatives. This obedience does not mean that the son should be deprived of his will regarding himself and his wealth, even though the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You and your wealth belong to your father," for this has its own regulations. Children also have rights over their parents. Affection, love, and respect should prevail in the family, and children should honor their parents as they grow older. Parents, in turn, should treat their children well, as this is more conducive to dutifulness.
