How should one deal with a mother who associates with sorcerers and charlatans to facilitate matters, and who refuses to be convinced by advice, and can the sorcery turn against them or can they be affected by what she does?

Our function is to clarify the Sharia ruling while advising the questioner. We have already explained that dealing with sorcerers and charlatans is a grave sin, because magic is one of the seven destructive sins. And whoever goes to a sorcerer or soothsayer and believes him has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, and his prayer will not be accepted for forty days if he believes a diviner. It is obligatory to accompany one's parents with kindness, even if they command shirk (polytheism), while not obeying them in that. Therefore, you must be dutiful to your mother, advise her, remind her of the seriousness of her action, and pray for her. You and your siblings can also fortify yourselves by reading the Quran, remembering Allah, and supplicating.
