Is it permissible to transplant and implant organs?

The Fiqh Academy issued a resolution regarding organ transplantation, stating that it is permissible to transfer an organ from one location to another within the same person's body, provided it is beneficial and corrects defects. It is also permissible to transfer a spontaneously regenerating organ from one person to another, subject to eligibility and Islamic legal conditions. Furthermore, it is permissible to utilize a part of an organ that was removed due to a medical ailment for another person. However, it is prohibited to transplant an organ essential for life from a living person, or to transplant an organ whose removal would disrupt a fundamental function, unless it is from a deceased person to a living person whose life or the integrity of a fundamental function depends on that organ, provided there is permission from the deceased or their heirs, or the approval of the Muslim ruler. It is stipulated that organ transplantation must not involve selling, while the expenditure of money by the recipient is a matter open to juristic reasoning and consideration. Cases other than those mentioned are subject to further research and study.
