Is it permissible to study at an American university online to avoid harm from family, taking into account the American boycott and the verse: "And whoever among you takes them as allies, indeed, he is one of them"?
A Muslim should thank Allah for His blessings and seek His help for steadfastness and good worship. Obedience to Allah takes precedence over honoring parents if they conflict, as there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. Online home study at an Islamic university is preferable, and if not available, then at a foreign university with non-Muslim administration is preferred over mixed-gender study that requires leaving the house. Benefiting from non-Muslims is permissible when needed. It is recommended to maintain the Dawn prayer, morning and evening remembrances, and four rak'ahs of prayer at the beginning of the day, and to strive for marriage.
