Is it permissible to receive entitlements from the Bar Association despite not practicing the profession and only paying the fees, and what is the ruling on working in the legal profession while applying man-made law?
If the Lawyers' Syndicate pension system is based on commercial insurance, then participation in it is not permissible, and one may only benefit from it to the extent of the amount paid.
However, if it is based on cooperative insurance, then it is permissible. But it is not permissible to receive financial allocations from it if the person no longer practices the profession, because what they paid has left their possession, and what they receive is considered a gift. Therefore, the condition of practicing the profession to receive the pension must be adhered to, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Muslims are bound by their conditions in what is permissible."
