Is it permissible to seek a khulʿ from a husband who demands that his working wife contribute to household expenses, and who publicly beats and insults her, while the wife remains worried about her daughter's fate?

The wife's maintenance is obligatory solely upon the husband. It is not permissible for him to compel his wife to contribute to household necessities. However, if the wife does so willingly, it might foster affection between the spouses.

If the husband assaults his wife with beating and insults, this permits her to seek separation. However, divorce might not always be in her best interest. Therefore, one should exercise patience, try to reach an understanding with the husband, and, if necessary, seek the help of wise individuals from his family.

One must frequently supplicate to Allah to rectify the situation. If the situation cannot be rectified, do not resort to divorce or Khul' (dissolution of marriage initiated by the wife) unless it is clear that it serves a greater benefit.
