What is the ruling on a person writing down their daily events, both good and bad?

Writing memoirs is permissible, and their purpose affects their ruling. If they are for self-reckoning and rectification, then they are commendable and beneficial. However, if they are merely for remembrance, then they should only be done during leisure time and not become an all-consuming preoccupation that wastes time and life. A Muslim must utilize their current time by repenting, refraining from sins in the future, and diligently pursuing what is more proper and beneficial for themselves.
