What is the ruling on one who incites a woman to seek divorce?

Corrupting a wife against her husband (known as takhmīb) is a grave sin and an act of devils and sorcerers. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "He is not of us who incites a woman against her husband or a servant against his master." This involves mentioning the husband's faults to his wife, or mentioning the virtues of a stranger to her. The perpetrator of this crime deserves severe disciplinary punishment (ta'zīr).
