Could you explain to me the meaning of Allah's Name Al-Hafiz?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The name "Al-Hafiz" (The Preserver) is mentioned in His (the Most High) saying: "But Allah is the best preserver, and He is the most merciful of the merciful." Yusuf/64.

Allah also named Himself "Al-Hafiz" (The Guardian), as in His saying: "Indeed, my Lord is Guardian over all things." Hud/57.

And Al-Hafiz is the one who preserves; He preserves the heavens and the earth, and He preserves His servants from perils, and He preserves their deeds and sayings for them, and He knows their intentions, and He preserves His allies from sins and the machinations of Satan.

Al-Sa'di said: He is the one who preserved what He created and encompassed with His knowledge what He brought into existence, and He preserved His allies from sins and destruction, and He enumerated the deeds of His servants and their recompense.
