Friday is the weekly Eid (festival) of Muslims, which Allah has distinguished with great characteristics and virtues. These include reciting Surat As-Sajdah and Surat Al-Insan at its dawn, sending abundant prayers upon the Prophet (peace be upon him), and establishing the Friday prayer, which is one of the most emphasized obligations in Islam. It is also stressed to perform ghusl (ritual bath), apply perfume, use the miswak (tooth-cleaning twig), hasten to the prayer, listen attentively to the sermon, recite Surat Al-Kahf, and it is the master of days, containing an hour of answered supplication. It is a day for expiating sins, and it is recommended to wear the best clothes and fumigate the mosque on this day. It is a day of worship and dedication to it, and Allah has reserved it for this Ummah (Muslim nation).

Other Islamic occasions include: the blessed month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, the Day of Arafah, and Eid al-Adha, which includes the days of sacrifice (Nahr) and Tashreeq.
