Is postponing pregnancy for a year due to psychological and financial reasons considered haraam (forbidden) and a rejection of God's blessing? And is the subsequent delay in conception faced by the couple a punishment from God, especially with the saying, "Because you prevented God's provision, He, glory be to Him, now withholds it from you"?

Bearing children is one of the purposes of marriage. There is no harm in delaying pregnancy for a valid reason agreed upon by both spouses, such as deteriorating security conditions. However, delaying it out of fear of poverty and scarcity of provisions is not permissible, as it indicates a poor opinion of Allah and a weakness in reliance upon Him, and it may even be a reason for delayed procreation. One must repent and seek forgiveness, for these are a means to provisions and offspring, in affirmation of His (the Almighty’s) saying: "And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [copious] showers And give you increase in wealth and sons and make for you gardens and make for you rivers.'"
