What is the ruling on people mentioning a person's sins after he has repented, and what is the solution to overcome that?
The questioner is advised to persevere in righteousness, redress injustices, and increase good deeds that wipe away sins. She should aim for Allah Almighty's pleasure and disregard people's opinions, for their praise does no good and their blame does no harm. If Allah knows the sincerity of her repentance and she demonstrates good conduct, He will grant her a truthful reputation and transform people's blame into praise and commendation, in accordance with the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, when Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, loves a servant, He calls Jibril: 'Allah has loved so-and-so, so love him.' So Jibril loves him. Then Jibril calls out in the heavens: 'Allah has loved so-and-so, so love him.' So the inhabitants of the heavens love him. Then acceptance for him is placed among the people of the earth."
