Does food taste lingering in the mouth affect the validity of the prayer?

Prayer is invalidated by eating and drinking, and the proof for this is the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, there is preoccupation in prayer." However, the persistence of the taste of food in the mouth does not invalidate prayer, because it is not considered eating and it is difficult to guard against. Jurists have explicitly stated that swallowing food stuck between the teeth without chewing does not invalidate prayer.
