Is it obligatory to complete reciting the Qur’an at least once in Ramadan, and does lying about that lead to sin, and how can one improve recitation and Tajweed?

Lying to people about completing the Qur’an is forbidden, and a believer is not a liar, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Can a believer be a coward?" He said: "Yes." It was asked: "Can he be a miser?" He said: "Yes." It was asked: "Can he be a liar?" He said: "No."

And truthfulness is obligatory because it leads to righteousness and Paradise, while lying leads to wickedness and Hellfire.

It is not appropriate to ask people about the number of times they have completed the Qur'an in Ramadan, as this is a reprehensible curiosity that falls under the category of "Part of a person's good Islam is leaving alone that which does not concern him." Asking them might lead to showing off, lying, feeling belittled, or causing hardship for the one being asked.

Completing the Qur'an in Ramadan is not a religious obligation, but one should not be lax in reciting it. It is recommended to complete it every week, and it is disliked to delay completing it for more than forty days for one who has no excuse.

Improving one's Tajweed and recitation is achieved through practice with a skilled sheikh and listening to the recitations of expert reciters.
