A woman is permitted to sit with non-mahrams in the presence of a mahram, provided she observes the Islamic etiquettes, such as wearing a complete hijab and not speaking in a seductive manner or performing any action that might incite temptation, as the element of seclusion is absent and the temptation is safeguarded against.

As for a woman maintaining ties of kinship (silat al-rahim), it is obligatory for her. She should do so while observing the Islamic guidelines, such as obtaining her husband's permission, wearing the hijab, and avoiding seclusion or shaking hands with those who are not her mahrams.
