Is it permissible for a husband to lead his wife in prayer if he makes mistakes in recitation while she has memorized the Qur’an?
The imamate of a deliberate لحّان (one who makes grammatical or pronunciation errors) whose لحن (error) changes the meaning is not permissible, nor is that of an ignorant person who is capable of learning but has not learned. It is preferable not to follow in prayer someone whose لحن is due to ignorance and who is unable to learn, although in such a case, the prayer of the congregant is valid and the imamate of such a person is permissible. A Quran memorizer must teach the husband and correct his mistakes gently.
