Is it true that our master Ali ibn Abi Talib used to wear a ruby ring?

There is no proof that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) wore a ruby ring. However, there is nothing in Islamic law to prevent it, as wearing a ring is permissible for men, from all metals except gold. It is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions wore silver rings, and it is permissible to wear rings made of copper and ruby. As for the hadiths (prophetic narrations) regarding the virtues of wearing rings made of ruby, carnelian, or emerald, they are weak or fabricated.
