Must I pay expiation out of my meager allowance, or must the one who provides for me pay it, or must I fast?

The expiation (kaffara) does not necessarily have to be from one's own money; it is permissible for it to be from money gifted to them by someone else, for instance, if someone gives them money to pay the expiation. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gave the man who had intercourse during Ramadan a basket of dates to give in charity as expiation for him. Therefore, whatever the guardian gives or whatever others assist with is considered the woman's property, and she can pay the expiation from it if it exceeds her needs. Otherwise, she must fast, and her guardian is not obliged to pay the expiation on her behalf, but if he voluntarily does so, it is sufficient for her.
