How did the universe originate, and what is the evidence for its origin and substance?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah commanded man to traverse the earth and observe the beginning of creation, which led scientists to discoveries such as the Big Bang theory in 1927 AD, the discovery of cosmic microwave background radiation in 1964 AD, and the confirmation of the Big Bang theory by NASA and the Soviet Space Agency. These results align with the Almighty's saying: (Have not those who disbelieved seen that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?), and that the universe began as "smoke" as mentioned in the Qur'an: (Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke). Modern space research has proven the existence of this dark cosmic smoke. The Qur'an also alluded to the expansion of the universe in His saying: (And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander), which has been proven by modern science.
