Was the smoke that was present at the beginning of the creation of the heavens water vapor, as the exegetes stated? And does this statement scientifically correspond [to reality], and was it mentioned in a revealed text?

The smoke mentioned in the Qur’an is water vapor, as reported by the Companions, their Successors, and scholars of exegesis such as Ibn Taymiyyah and Al-Shawkani. This meaning aligns with modern theories stating that the universe began from a gas, and vapor is most similar to gas. Then Allah commanded the heavens and the earth to submit, and they responded obediently, and He created them in two other days (Thursday and Friday). He adorned the lowest heaven with stars and protected it from devils, all by the decree of Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.
